Lopezmarqués has adopted Harvey across its litigation and arbitration, commercial and company law, and white-collar crime practices to speed up document-heavy work and apply the firm's accumulated expertise.
- Lawyers use Harvey to review large volumes of documentary evidence, identify relevant information across multiple documents, and reconstruct the chronology of events.
- They also use it to search the firm's previous work and legal expertise, prepare initial drafts of legal documents based on prior transactions and precedents, and support legal research within selected internal knowledge bases.
- In one case involving an alleged fraudulent transfer of assets within a corporate group, Harvey helped the team review board meeting minutes, notarial deeds, annual accounts, bank records, and invoices to reconstruct the chronology of transactions and asset transfers between the parent company and its subsidiaries.
- Legal assessment, case strategy, and procedural decisions remain the sole responsibility of the lawyers, while Harvey significantly streamlines the document analysis phase.
- In a corporate transaction involving the sale and purchase of shares, together with an acknowledgement of debt and security agreements, the team used Harvey to prepare an initial draft based on an internal memorandum and documents from previous transactions drawn up by the firm.
- Managing Partner Juan José López Marqués said artificial intelligence does not replace a lawyer's judgement but enhances it, and that working with the firm's own case history rather than generic information reduces complex tasks such as document review or drafting preliminary documents to a matter of hours.
