Google has unveiled Gemini 4 Carbon, a frontier model it describes as its strongest yet for cybersecurity and long-horizon work, two weeks after Gemini 4 Argon.
- Carbon ranks first on version 5.0 of the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index with a score of 59, and second only to Claude Opus 5.5 on the Artificial Analysis Coding Agent Index.
- In external cybersecurity evaluations run without guardrails, Google says it scored 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro for vulnerability discovery, 54.8% on ExploitGym for exploitation and 71.0% on Collinear's CWE-bench for producing working fixes.
- Google says internal tests showed more than twice Argon's success rate for secure-code generation, and the Chrome team found it produced high-quality patches at more than 10 times the rate of another lab's large frontier model.
- The model will initially reach a subset of cyber defenders this week, with trusted partners added gradually through the Fairwind Program before it comes to developers, businesses and consumers.
- Carbon launches at Argon's introductory price of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with cached inputs costing 95% less than standard input tokens.
