ElevenLabs signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Karnataka to bring voice AI into public services across the state, at the company's first India Summit in Bengaluru.
- The agreement was signed by Karnataka's Minister for IT and Home Affairs, Shri Priyank Kharge, and ElevenLabs co-founder and CEO Mati Staniszewski.
- ElevenLabs will work with the state's IT department on voice AI pilots for grievance redressals, public helplines and entitlement schemes, with the aim of serving citizens in Kannada and the other 13 official Indian languages live on the platform.
- The company will also deploy its safety framework with the state, covering deepfake detection, watermarking, consent, limits on voice cloning and fraud prevention, and will brief local officials who deploy and oversee these systems.
- Through its One Million Voices program, ElevenLabs will give eligible Karnataka residents who have lost the ability to speak, because of oral or throat cancer, ALS or other neurological conditions, free lifetime licences to speak using an AI recreation of their own voice, including in Kannada.
- The agreement extends ElevenLabs' work with governments, including the UK AI Security Institute and the governments of Greece and Brazil.
