ElevenLabs is partnering with adELA, Spain's leading ALS association, to give people living with ALS across Spain free access to its voice restoration and preservation technology.
- The partnership is the first Spanish initiative under the ElevenLabs Impact Program, and Spain is the first country where the technology is available through a national patient association.
- Eligible people diagnosed with ALS can create a digital version of their voice in one of two ways: if their speech hasn't yet changed significantly, they can record new samples, and if it already has, they can upload old recordings to ElevenLabs instead.
- An estimated 4,000–4,500 people in Spain live with ALS, and for many it will lead to the loss of speech.
- Gabi Leibowitz, Head of Impact at ElevenLabs, said voice is deeply tied to identity and connection, and that voice restoration can help protect dignity, autonomy, and participation in family, work, and society.
- People living with ALS in Spain can apply for access through adELA.
