Anthropic is expanding its partnership with the General Services Administration to give government buyers a 40% discount on Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government and the Claude API.
- The discount applies across every product surface for the first time, covering agencies that buy directly today and purchases through cloud providers in the coming months, and it extends to state, local, tribal and territorial governments.
- Anthropic says the discounts are estimated to save the government $1 billion, and agencies are not bound by a minimum spend commitment, paying only for the usage they consume.
- Roughly 500 US federal, state and local government organizations now use Claude, with weekly Claude for Government active users up about eightfold since February and usage across federal civilian agencies up about 20-fold in a year.
- Anthropic is also launching a dedicated program to help agencies implement Claude, bringing practices its private sector customers already use to public sector partners in the coming weeks.
- Claude for Government, which offers near-feature parity with commercial offerings at FedRAMP High, was made generally available on September 30, and Claude Enterprise is in process for FedRAMP Moderate authorization through the FedRAMP 20x program.
- Agencies can buy Claude at the OneGov discount through GSA's Multiple Award Schedule today.
