GitHub Copilot is now available inside JetBrains Air, letting developers delegate coding tasks, guide execution and review results in their IDE or in the cloud.
- The integration uses the Agent Client Protocol and sits alongside the existing GitHub Copilot plugin, so users pick whichever workflow suits them.
- Local tasks need Air installed in the JetBrains IDE, GitHub Copilot selected and a connected Copilot account.
- Cloud tasks require a JetBrains account in an Air Teams-enabled business organization, a Copilot subscription and Copilot enabled by the Air administrator.
- Copilot cloud tasks run in a Docker container on a fresh virtual machine, with all traffic through a proxy and no state carried between tasks.
- Connecting Copilot to Air does not request Copilot permissions, and Air may only verify subscription or credit availability when the cloud environment starts.
- Air administrators can disable Copilot through a governance policy but cannot set Copilot spending limits within Air.
