Kimi, the AI assistant from Moonshot AI, has apologized to paying members for rate limiting and unnecessary quota consumption on its new K3.1 Pro model and is returning part of their monthly allowance.
- The company said the problem was on its side and that it should have fixed it sooner.
- As compensation, Kimi is running a one-time reset for subscription members on all tiers, giving every active member 25% of their total monthly quota, which it described as roughly one week of usage.
- Members who have used less than 25% of their monthly quota will have their usage reset to zero, and Kimi said the adjusted numbers would appear on users' usage bars before the end of the day.
- Kimi also said it has changed its configuration and is reducing unnecessary sub-agent calls and output length, so the same quota can complete more real tasks.
- The apology comes two days after Moonshot AI launched K3.1 Pro on October 24 as the first model in its K3.1 series, which the company calls its most capable so far, with about 3 trillion parameters and a 1 million token context window.
- The models are available on kimi.com, the Kimi app, Kimi Work, Kimi Code and the Kimi API, and Moonshot AI says full model weights will be released before November 4.
