OpenAI is expanding ChatGPT Ads to 26 more countries, extending the advertising program to 89 countries worldwide about eight months after it launched.
- More than 100,000 advertisers have run campaigns on ChatGPT since then, and OpenAI says more than 1.2 billion people use the service each week to explore ideas, compare options and make decisions.
- The expansion adds 14 Latin American markets, including Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru, plus Nigeria, South Africa, Serbia, Ukraine, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
- Ads appear only on the Free and Go plans, while Plus, Pro and Enterprise subscriptions remain ad-free.
- Advertisers can buy through technology partners or self-service in Ads Manager, and OpenAI says conversations stay private from advertisers, ads are labeled and separate from answers, and advertising does not influence the answers ChatGPT provides.
- OpenAI says its next phase will add formats, objectives, buying options and measurement capabilities.
