From the source
Supabase has added Explorer, a new query editor in its Dashboard that reaches logs as well as the database, along with Notebooks that save queries and notes in a file inside the project's supabase folder.
- The company says diagnosing a production problem usually means reading logs, usage charts and database reports separately and correlating them by hand, since logs speak a different query dialect.
- Explorer puts both sources in one editor, where a user picks a source, writes SQL and sees each result as a table or a chart, and log queries carry their own time range.
- Notebooks hold queries of various types as cells with markdown notes, and because a notebook saves queries rather than results, running it later returns current data.
- Supabase Assistant, the dashboard's chat panel, can write queries in the same editor and can write, run and persist notebook cells, with every create and edit waiting for approval; the company says nothing requires the Assistant and a notebook can be written by hand.
- Notebooks live in the supabase folder, so they are versioned, reviewed in pull requests and pulled down with the CLI or pushed up from a local file.
- Explorer is in feature preview and available to every project, turned on under Feature Previews, where it replaces the SQL Editor in the sidebar; the notebooks commands are in the beta version of the CLI.
