Perplexity is partnering with UK sovereign infrastructure company Valarian to run Perplexity Computer inside institutions' own servers, including air-gapped networks isolated from the live web.
- The move targets regulated industries such as finance, government and defense that need to control where AI runs, what it can access and what it is allowed to do.
- Valarian's ACRA platform runs Computer on infrastructure the institution controls and enforces access and network policies, organizing workloads into "enclaves" with defined access to data, tools, users and credentials.
- Institutions can run open-weight models including Nemotron, GLM, Kimi,
DeepSeek-R1 and Qwen on their own hardware, and different workloads can hold different permissions, so a legal agent could work with a local model and assigned case files while external connections are blocked.
- Air-gapped deployments use only the models, tools and information inside the isolated network, with no live connections to external model APIs or the public web.
- Deployments are available starting today, and Perplexity says organizations can email sovereignai@perplexity.ai to discuss one.
