Anthropic is inviting principal investigators and their research groups at academic institutions, nonprofits and government labs to apply for guest investigator projects using Claude in the life sciences.
- The company says it is looking for proposals in causal human biology, structural and computational molecular biology, medicinal chemistry, drug discovery and clinical science.
- Over 8 to 12 weeks, selected guest investigators work directly with Anthropic researchers on a problem of interest and produce analyses, artifacts and tools, with Anthropic running its models and harnesses at no cost to them.
- Anthropic says it will work with participants to publish the outputs and open-source the accompanying data and code, and that guest investigators retain the rights to their data at every step and to any independent follow-on research.
- Applicants must explain how direct collaboration with Anthropic's researchers would benefit them and make a reasonable case that outputs such as preliminary discoveries, answers to open questions, open-source datasets or public resources can be produced within the 8- to 12-week period, with a possible extension for some projects.
- Anthropic says it is not asking for guest investigators' data in the application or during the collaboration, and asks applicants to include only publicly available information in their materials.
- Applications are open for approximately 14 days, and Anthropic says it will strive to notify selected participants by email about 14 days after applications close.
