Anthropic opened a research preview of Claude Duet, a standalone app where Claude acts as a proactive agent for professionals and small business owners.
- The app sends a morning brief on important items across connected apps, monitors those apps through the day, and messages the user only when something needs attention.
- It is built around Claude Opus 5.5 and is available on iOS, Android and claude.ai, included in Pro and Max plans under the same usage limits as the rest of Claude, with access through a waitlist.
- Anthropic says Claude Duet carries over memory, skills and connected apps from a Claude account, and runs on a virtual machine with its own browser so tasks continue when the user steps away.
- Credentials follow the design used for Claude Managed Agents, so the app never directly sees passwords or sign-in tokens, and actions are approved by the auto mode classifier that also protects claude.ai and Claude Code.
- A new dedicated classifier and safety system prompt checks each message and rejects requests to share the strictest tier of information, including credit card numbers and government identification, while health or personal finances pass only when the user has explicitly instructed it.
