Mistral and NVIDIA are collaborating to build AI-native engineering workflows that connect simulation, model development and design, using Mistral Large 4 with NVIDIA's accelerated computing and physics tools.
- The two companies will also develop public benchmarks and open datasets for evaluating physics models, giving researchers and industrial teams a shared way to compare accuracy and validate automated CAD-to-simulation workflows.
- A second set of benchmarks will target agentic AI in computer-aided engineering and electronic design automation, assessing whether agents can use engineering tools, complete multistep workflows and produce technically correct results, while measuring execution time and computational cost.
- Mistral and NVIDIA say the work is meant to define consistent, reproducible standards for physics and agentic AI evaluations in engineering.
- Neil Ashton, Mistral's VP of Computational Engineering, said the pace of engineering has been set by the pace of simulation, and that open-weight models plus NVIDIA's stack give engineers faster cycles and benchmarks rigorous enough to validate agents on real CAE and EDA work.
