NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang used his GTC Berlin keynote to cast AI as a new industrial revolution and to point to European companies already working with the chipmaker.
- Huang asked what L'Oréal, Revolut, Spotify, Merck, Vodafone, Zara, Porsche, Nestlé and HSBC have in common, answering that they are all European and all working with NVIDIA on AI.
- The keynote followed a weeklong NVIDIA road across Europe that took in Paris, London, Stockholm and Dublin.
- The company says it has committed nearly $10 billion to the technology ecosystem across Europe and works with more than 12,000 partners.
- Huang described AI as a five-layer cake, with energy powering advanced computers inside an AI factory that generates tokens and digital intelligence from the models running on it, which applications then integrate.
- "Long before the AI models emerge, the infrastructure has to exist," he said, comparing it to the internet needing networking and electricity needing the grid.
- He told the audience that to be part of the AI economy you want to be producing the AI rather than just consuming it, adding that Europe could do all of that and that work has already started.
