IBM released Granite Switch 4.1.1, a backwards-compatible patch to its modular Switch architecture that updates adapters without retraining the base model.
- The release follows Granite Switch 4.1, which showed that specialized, cache-efficient adapters can add new expertise to a language model on a single endpoint.
- The patch updates the Granite Speech ASR model, which now handles multilingual speech-to-text across 10 languages with native punctuation and capitalization, so transcripts are ready for downstream models without a formatting pass.
- It also updates the Decision adapter in granitelib-core, which IBM says performs better on the Jev Decision Index test set.
- IBM says nothing was recomputed apart from training the new ASR model and Decision adapter, leaving the base model untouched, so users compose the latest adapters they want and deploy.
- IBM says it is working on tutorials and an Adapter SDK so developers and third-party providers can build their own adapters, iterate on versions and ship updates the way they ship software.
