Smartsheet has launched a generally available Model Context Protocol server that lets AI assistants read, write and manage Smartsheet data through a standardized protocol.
- The server spans more than 40 tools for exploring, creating and managing sheets, rows, columns and automations, so users can update task statuses, create rows and modify project structure through natural language.
Amazon's post walks through connecting it to Amazon Quick, an agentic AI workspace for business users, and Kiro, an agentic IDE for developers.
- Smartsheet says the server returns precisely structured context such as row relationships, column types, cell history and comments, producing token-efficient payloads rather than raw API responses, which it says reduces cost and improves latency at scale.
- The server is available at three regional endpoints for the US, EU and AU, uses Streamable HTTP transport and is authenticated with OAuth 2.0 or a Personal Access Token.
- Connecting requires an AWS account with IAM permissions, a Smartsheet account on a Business, Enterprise or AWM plan, and either a Personal Access Token or OAuth credentials.
