Google Cloud is bringing its Gemini agent to public service with Gemini for government services, in preview, for federal, state and local agencies.
- Government work runs on statute, regulation and agency guidance held in siloed legacy systems, under strict data sovereignty, compliance and confidentiality rules, which Google says leaves civil servants on data entry and manual document review.
- The offering has five components: skills written by domain experts, secure connectors to agency systems, partner agents, a governed control plane, and an open partner ecosystem.
- Skills cover policy and regulatory research, FOIA record discovery, redaction for public release, vendor bid evaluation, grant and program expense audits, document validation at intake, and plain-language notices.
- Connectors link Gemini to case management, ERP, HR and collaboration systems and to federal sources such as the Federal Register, regulations.gov and eCFR, querying each system in place so no data is migrated.
