Rebuilt filetree with virtualization and keyboard accessibility
Replit rebuilt its filetree to improve performance and accessibility.
The new filetree uses virtualization to render only visible rows, reducing click handler execution time from 344ms to 16ms when expanding a directory with 500 files.
It also adds keyboard navigation and ARIA attributes for assistive technologies.

The most significant source of performance issues for large filetrees was rendering all the rows, even those invisible to the user. To solve this, we turned to virtualization . In essence, we now only render what's visible, or about to be visible while scrolling, making the process significantly faster and smoother.
