Anthropic changes usage policy to ban model abuse and election interference

Anthropic updated its usage policy to explicitly prohibit election interference, weapons software, surveillance, and prolonged verbal abuse of its models.

The policy bars users from engaging in broadly deceptive campaigns, deceiving voters, or disrupting elections, and includes a section titled 'Do Not Undermine Democratic Processes.'

The prohibition on verbal abuse is meant to apply only in extreme cases where users repeatedly act cruelly toward models with no discernible purpose.
