Modal plans to run its Sandboxes product on Nvidia's Arm-based Vera CPU, its first step away from x86 chips, and says the chip handled up to twice as many tasks as an Intel server in its own tests.
Nvidia hand-delivered Modal's first Vera CPU server to its San Francisco office last week, Modal said in a blog post.
Modal will need to change its infrastructure and image build system to support the Arm architecture, as it has historically run exclusively x86 machines.
