Microsoft has pulled out of a planned UK data center deal with Nscale after grid officials said power would not be available until the 2030s, a setback for the startup's IPO hopes.
Nscale announced the Loughton facility in September 2025 alongside three other projects as part of a reported $24 billion contract with Microsoft, but the site's power supply has been delayed until the 2030s.
Nscale is also experiencing construction problems at another facility in Norway, which has struggled with cooling system leaks, regulatory hurdles and a fire.
