Replit is letting anyone on a team contribute code to a company's core codebase through Cloud Agents, which test each change in the running app and carry review feedback forward.
- The company says the feature is now available for all Pro & Enterprise customers, aimed at people outside engineering who know what should change but cannot make the change themselves.
- Subject matter experts describe a change in plain language; the agent finds the relevant code, makes a secure change, and shows a live preview beside the chat.
- When the change looks right, the agent opens a pull request in
GitHub or a merge request in GitLab that follows the team's skills and contribution guidelines, and updates it when review asks for changes.
- Cloud Agents check the change in isolated cloud sandboxes before the pull request reaches anyone, clicking through the app as a customer would, then attach screenshots and video of the final version.
- Replit says self-improving workspace memory turns review comments into guidance agents follow, with engineers approving each update before it takes effect; that feature is in early access.
- Replit reports it used workspace memory internally to reduce token usage by 51% and cut the time agents take on a common data task from 16 minutes to 1 minute without reducing output quality.
