MiniMax launched Mini App inside its MiniMax Code desktop app, a long-running application with a frontend and a Node.js backend that installs as a plugin and can call and be called by the Agent.
- The company says the goal is to keep an Agent's work on a page that stays live instead of scattered across conversations, where context has to be dug out of a pile of chats and an HTML dashboard only shows data from the moment it was generated.
- A Mini App is compatible with the MiniMax Plugin protocol and carries a miniapp.json manifest, while the host handles processes, ports, authentication, credentials and rollback-capable publishing.
- The release includes the Mini App runtime with a persistent data directory, hosted MCP, the Agent API, Host Connectors and in-page tool approvals, plus /miniapp-creator, which takes a one-sentence request in chat to a working page.
- With /miniapp-creator the Agent first runs a read-only query against each data source to confirm it can get real data, then writes the page and backend, publishes the app, opens it and checks the result with screenshots in the built-in browser.
- Official Mini Apps are in the plugin marketplace alongside MiniMax-Code-MiniApps, an open-source community repository that also holds the source for MiniMax Bot, itself a Mini App.
