Amazon is letting new SageMaker AI customers sign up for AWS with an identity they already have and land in a fully configured SageMaker Studio environment in a few steps.
- The company says the change removes the last major hurdle between discovering a model and building with it, since new customers previously had to verify an email, phone number and payment details before starting.
- Sign-up now accepts Google,
GitHub,
Apple or Amazon accounts, or an email address, in 2–3 steps, without the advanced AWS account sign-up, phone verification or a credit card for most customers.
- SageMaker AI then creates the Studio environment in about 20 seconds, and new customers receive $100 in AWS Free Tier credits that work across model customization, training jobs, Studio notebooks and endpoint deployments, with a chance to earn another $100.
- The Free Tier period ends after 6 months or when the credits run out, whichever comes first, at which point resource usage stops automatically and customers can upgrade to a paid plan by adding payment details.
