Factory is partnering with Databricks so customers can use data and models in the Databricks Data + AI Platform to power software that Factory builds or migrates.
- The two companies are already helping one of the largest global enterprises move a complex data platform that powers hundreds of business applications onto the Databricks Data + AI Platform, including petabytes of data and hundreds of thousands of tables.
- Factory's takeaway from that migration is that data modernization and software modernization need to happen together, since the applications that use the data carry dependencies that must survive the move.
- Factory Droids work across application code, data pipelines, SQL, tests and documentation, using access to assets governed through Databricks Unity Catalog to trace how an application depends on a stored procedure or which pipeline creates its inputs.
- Factory says Droids can then identify dependencies, propose an implementation sequence and define compatibility checks, with engineers reviewing the plan before implementation proceeds.
- The partnership covers three categories of use cases: PDLC Automation, Migration and Modernization, and Cybersecurity, the last remediating vulnerabilities in applications monitored by Databricks Lakewatch.
