Google DeepMind deprecates a preview agent and recommends two replacements

Deprecation

Google DeepMind is deprecating the deep-research-pro-preview-12-2025 agent, which will stop working on October 23, 2026.

The company recommends migrating to deep-research-preview-04-2026 for speed and efficiency, or to deep-research-max-preview-04-2026 for maximum comprehensiveness.
To migrate, developers must update the agent parameter in their interactions.create requests from the deprecated version to one of the two newer agents.
