Replit· 4 NovreCAPTCHA and the anonymous experience
Replit ends anonymous coding due to reCAPTCHA costs
Capability change
Replit is ending its anonymous coding experience because Google began charging for reCAPTCHA, which would cost Replit more than its monthly revenue.
Users will now need to sign up for an account to create repls and save work, though limited anonymous use remains on language pages.
From the source
Sadly, earlier this year, Google surprised us that they're going to be charging for reCAPTCHA. Of course, it makes business sense for them, but for a startup like ours, operating at the scale we operate at, it meant that we have to pay them more than we make in monthly revenue[1].
