Meta is breaking ground on a 1GW data center in Sturgeon County, Alberta, its first in Canada and 33rd globally, optimized for AI workloads.
The investment is more than CAD $13 billion, with approximately 3,000 construction workers expected at peak and over 300 operational jobs.
Meta is also investing about CAD $60 million in local infrastructure and will match the data center's electricity use with 100% clean and renewable energy.
