Meta published six research papers produced through a collaboration between mathematicians and its Muse Spark AI models (versions 1.1 and 1.2) used in Thinking Mode via the meta.ai chat interface.
Five of the papers provide answers to previously open research questions in mathematics, covering topics such as Gaussian ellipsoid fitting, wave collapse in a laser-physics model, and a counterexample to a group-theory conjecture.
The work was guided by a team of mathematicians, reviewed by a separate group, and each paper credits earlier research and distinguishes AI-drafted passages from researcher-drafted ones.
