The Open Source Community is backing OpenEnv for Agentic RL
OpenEnv, a tool for creating agentic execution environments, is becoming more open with a new governance committee including Meta-PyTorch, Reflection, Unsloth, Modal, Prime Intellect, Nvidia, Mercor, Fleet AI, Microsoft, Hugging Face, and RadixArk. The project clarifies its role as an interoperability layer for RL environments, standardizing how environments are published, deployed, and consumed, without dictating rewards or training loops. Future plans include external rewards, tasksets via datasets, harness integration, end-to-end examples, and auto-validation.

OpenEnv is a tool for creating an agentic execution environment like terminals, browsers, or anything an agent can interact with. And today, we’re excited to announce that OpenEnv is becoming even more open, to make the future of training agents open source.
