Perplexity introduced hybrid compute on Mac, allowing users to run tasks locally on their device while using cloud AI for reasoning and web search.
The feature includes a privacy gate that controls what data leaves the machine, and is available to Pro, Max, and Enterprise subscribers on Apple silicon Macs with at least 24GB of unified memory.

Hybrid compute lets a user work with AI on data that should never leave their device by dividing each task between the cloud and a local model on their Mac. A privacy gate on the Mac controls what may leave the machine.
