Perplexity is preparing a Hybrid Mode for its Computer product on Mac, enabling cloud orchestration while delegating suitable subtasks to a locally running model.
- The mode includes a Privacy Gate feature that inspects data before cloud transmission.
- Three downloadable local models are being prepared: a Perplexity model (~19 GB), a Qwen 32B model (~17.4 GB), and a Gemma-based model (~5.6 GB).
