Amp released Opus 4.8, a new model that powers its smart mode, replacing Opus 4.7. It is a better coding agent with improved faithfulness, tighter changes, and better self-checking. In internal evals, it solved 62% of tasks, up from 52% for Opus 4.7, and it offers a fast mode at roughly 2.5× speed at 2× base tokens.
