Anthropic has added a read-only Personal Finance beta to Claude for eligible US subscribers, letting them link bank accounts through Plaid and ask about balances, transactions and spending.
- The rollout is gradual and limited to Pro, Max and Ultra plans in the United States, covering Claude on the web, desktop and the iOS and Android apps, while Free, Team and Enterprise plans are excluded.
- Access is read-only, so Claude cannot move, manage or invest money, and Anthropic says the feature is not meant to give investment advice.
- In a worked example, Claude totals $4,309.37 across connected accounts, assigns more than half to rent and utilities and $1,024.51 to food and drink, then flags a membership renewal and four payments due before payday.
- Claude can also scan for duplicate charges, unexpected fees and rising bills, explain terms such as APR, and build weekly spending charts, upcoming-obligation calendars and adjustable dashboards.
- Anthropic warns that balances may be a day or two old, that an account connected through two logins can be counted twice, and that spending figures omit any bank Claude cannot read.
- Only US banks can be linked, up to a maximum of 16, and linked accounts cannot be used in scheduled tasks, Cowork tasks or Claude Code.
- Conversations in the Personal Finance hub are not used to train Anthropic's models, but financial data stays in chat history until the chat is deleted, and shared links or published artifacts can retain bank figures after a connection ends.
