Perplexity is letting Pro, Max and Enterprise subscribers run its Computer agent entirely on supported Apple silicon Macs, so work on local files and apps can stay on the device.
- The company announced the release in a three-post thread on X on October 20th, making fully local execution a paid feature rather than one available to all users.
- In fully local mode, the model, the agent and task execution all run on the Mac, while cloud escalation remains available for tasks that need broader capabilities.
- Perplexity recommends 36 GB of memory, a requirement that limits which Macs can run the agent comfortably.
