Bridging AI agents with wet-lab robotics for autonomous molecular design
Google Research describes three projects that bridge AI agents with wet-lab robotics: the VERID framework for safe, resource-efficient experimentation; closed-loop aptamer and de-novo protein design prototypes; and the use of a semantic digital twin to track physical lab state and enable agents to plan, simulate, and execute liquid-handling protocols.

We are bringing AI agents to the wet-lab bench at Google Research to navigate complex biological landscapes. By grounding agents in physical lab robotics, we can run fast closed-loop molecular design cycles where agents learn how to learn, ultimately discovering single-digit nanomolar protein binders for cancer targets.
