Vercel's blog describes how a financial institution used BotID to discover that suspicious bot traffic was actually verified Google crawlers re-crawling indexed pages from a years-old SEO poisoning attack on their previous infrastructure, not an active threat.

The results from BotID were unexpected. The suspicious traffic was not from malicious scrapers or attack infrastructure. Instead, every request originated from bots.fyi-verified Google crawlers, including Googlebot, Google AdsBot, and other legitimate Google services.
