Vercel redesigned its CDN metadata lookup by grouping path metadata into indexed shards of about 200 KB, reducing P99 latency from 215.8 ms to 19.1 ms (91% lower) and average latency from 8.59 ms to 1.81 ms (79% lower) on production traffic measured August 5–12, 2026.
