Building an Agent for Complex Document Drafting and Editing

Harvey redesigned its document editing agent to iteratively build a Word document in memory using a proprietary OOXML library, replacing a one-shot parallel sub-agent architecture.

The new system gives the model tools to compose edits step by step, supports parallel sub-agents with auto-merge, and includes self-review via a diff tool.

It ships in the Harvey for Word Add-In and the web Assistant.
