Google rolls out improved SynthID AI content detector, now available globally

SynthID detector now supports partner watermarks, available on new website

Google expanded its SynthID detector to support watermarks from all its partners, including OpenAI, Nvidia, Kakao, and soon Apple, and made it available to anyone via a new dedicated website, SynthID.com.

Users must log in with a Google, OpenAI, or Apple account and are limited to approximately 10 checks per day.

The tool returns a simple yes/no on whether SynthID was used, but does not highlight regions as the internal tool did.

Google says that its expanded version of the detector will support the distinct watermarks from all its SynthID partners, including OpenAI, Nvidia, Kakao, and (soon) Apple. So you’ll be able to go there and check a file for the involvement of all those AI systems instead of accessing their detectors individually.
