Fix for undercounted agent activity in Copilot metrics

GitHub identified and fixed a bug where Copilot agent activity was undercounted in usage metrics because recent IDE versions moved agent sessions to the Copilot SDK without proper IDE identification.

The fix is available in Visual Studio Code now, with other IDEs expected to receive it by November 2026.

Billing is unaffected, but missing data cannot be backfilled.

Several IDEs recently moved Copilot agent sessions to the Copilot SDK. Those sessions didn’t identify which IDE they came from, so usage metrics couldn’t attribute them correctly. Most of that activity was left out of reports, and some was counted as Copilot CLI activity.
