Amazon published a guide on downgrading user roles in Amazon Quick, covering why to downgrade (least privilege and cost savings), prerequisites, and two methods: manual deletion-and-recreation and using the AWS CLI.

The console does not support direct downgrades from Admin or Author to Reader, so the CLI step-down sequence (Admin > Author > Restricted Reader > Reader) is required for legacy BI roles.
