Anthropic releases faster, cheaper Sonnet 5.5

New model

Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5.5, the second model in the Claude 5.5 family, as a faster and cheaper upgrade to Sonnet 5.

The model produces output more than 30% faster and costs up to 30% less per task, with per-token pricing unchanged.
It is available across AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, and includes new cyber safeguards and fallback behavior for higher-risk requests.

Anthropic says Sonnet 5.5 produces output more than 30% faster and can cost up to 30% less per task for most workloads because it requires fewer tokens. Per-token pricing remains unchanged at $2 per million input tokens, $10 per million output tokens, $0.20 per million cache-read tokens, and $2.50 per million cache-write tokens.
