Architecture for extracting contract data with AI agents and analytics
Amazon published a guide describing a contract intelligence platform built on AWS that uses AI agents (Claude Sonnet for extraction, Claude Haiku for verification) to extract structured data from PDF contracts, with Amazon Textract as a tiebreaker for signature detection.
The system stores results in Aurora PostgreSQL and provides portfolio-wide aggregation via embedded dashboards and natural language queries, addressing the limitation of RAG-based tools that cannot sum or compare across many documents.

The answer is structured extraction, not better retrieval. To answer aggregation questions across hundreds of documents, you extract the key fields into a database, then query them with analytics tools built for exactly that.
