Google Research scientists have been using Empirical Research Assistance (ERA) for real-world applications in epidemiology, cosmology, atmospheric monitoring, and neuroscience, including generating hospitalization forecasts for flu, COVID-19, and RSV, solving a cosmology problem involving cosmic strings, and monitoring CO2 with weather satellites.

Since introducing Empirical Research Assistance in the fall, Google Research scientists have been using it to address real-world applications in epidemiology, cosmology, atmospheric monitoring, and neuroscience, providing a hint of AI’s transformational capabilities to accelerate scientific discoveries.
