Empirical Research Assistance (ERA): From Nature publication to catalyzing Computational Discovery

Google Research announces the publication of Empirical Research Assistance (ERA) in Nature, an AI tool that uses Gemini to write and optimize scientific code for expert-level computational modeling. The tool has been applied to open scientific problems including epidemiological forecasting, runoff prediction, CO2 mapping, and solar energy optimization. ERA is also used to build the Computational Discovery prototype, now available through a trusted tester program in Google Labs.
