Google announced Gemini 3.8 Live and Gemini 3.8 Live Extended Thinking, two real-time conversational models that enhance voice interaction, real-time reasoning, and complex task execution.
Gemini 3.8 Live supports near-real-time visual input, automatic switching among 97 languages during conversation, and background tool and API calls.
The Extended Thinking version enables voice communication while reasoning, targeting multi-step complex tasks.
Both models are available to developers via the Gemini API and Google AI Studio, with Gemini 3.8 Live also live on Search Live and the Extended Thinking version available to Gemini Live users.
