xAI's data science team built Data Bot, a Shared Bot in Grok Bot that lets every team query the warehouse and run analyses the way a data scientist would. The team says it was becoming a bottleneck, answering straightforward questions that still needed its expertise, so it taught the bot how it works. Data Bot draws on shared skills the data team maintains, covering core metrics, experiment design, chart and dashboard conventions, and dbt and pipeline practices. Teams can add it to Slack channels, where it answers questions and contributes to ongoing work, and shared memory lets it retain knowledge from day-to-day use. Data Bot's managers review proposed memory additions and approve or reject them before the bot shares that knowledge with everyone. Product managers, marketing and revenue growth staff use it for questions their dashboards cannot answer, including tracking whether email recipients switched plans after a campaign.

## Evidence

Verbatim from https://x.ai/news/data-bot:

> Data Bot is a Shared Bot in Grok Bot that the data science team teaches, so every team can query the warehouse, run analyses, and get answers the way a data scientist would.
>
> At SpaceXSI, our data science team works across the company, helping teams answer difficult questions and finding new ways to incorporate data into our products. Over time, we've developed an intuition for our data, including how to interpret it and where its limitations lie.
>
> But our small team cannot answer every question that arises in a fast-growing company. People come to us throughout the day with questions that may be straightforward but still require our expertise to answer accurately. This can easily make us a bottleneck.
>
> A few months back, we started exploring how AI agents could change that relationship. We wanted to give everyone a data scientist, available around the clock, that could draw on our collective knowledge, while shifting more of our own work toward building and improving that AI teammate.
>
> We built Data Bot, a Shared Bot in Grok Bot that we've taught how our data science team works. It can query our warehouse, conduct analyses, and return results in the form each person prefers.
