GitHub is including Copilot with GitHub Enterprise for every licensed user at enterprises that work with a GitHub or Microsoft account team, replacing the need to track Copilot seats and AI usage separately. Previously, customers had to manage both how many Copilot seats they paid for and how much AI usage those users consumed; now usage against the enterprise budget is the main thing to manage. Users in an enterprise account who do not hold a GitHub Enterprise license get the same access through Copilot Standalone at $10 per user per month. Copilot access through GitHub Enterprise and Copilot Standalone carries the same features and models as Copilot Enterprise but does not include monthly AI credits per seat. AI usage is metered from the first request against the enterprise budget, with no included allowance to track or top up, and code completion and next edit suggestions keep working even with no budget available. Copilot Chat, Copilot code review and Copilot in the cloud require available budget, though an exhausted budget never removes access. The change is available now for GitHub Enterprise Cloud through sales teams, while self-serve availability is coming in stages and current self-serve subscriptions are unaffected; Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise remain available.
