Sakana AI's go-to-market team, formed in September 2026 under VP Hidekazu Kakishima, is tasked with selling research-derived products such as Sakana Chat, Sakana Marlin, Sakana Fugu and Sakana Translate to companies and government agencies. Kakishima says the company had been known as an R&D outfit and has now entered a phase of turning knowledge from finance and defense deployments into products for a broader customer base. He argues that releasing a product does not mean customers can use it right away, so the team is hiring Forward Deployed Engineers who feed what they learn at customer sites back into the product. The aim, he says, is to increase the number of cases where the product works on its own without an FDE. Sakana AI also relies on partners, both system integrators building its products into their own solutions and technology companies offering them through their marketplaces, because its own resources are limited.
